Emnel Adventures — a Tanzanian safari team on the Serengeti plains at golden hour

About Emnel Adventures

We are not a travel agency. We are Tanzania.

Every person on this team was born here, raised here, and has spent their life learning this land. We did not come to Tanzania to offer safaris — we grew up inside the thing we are now sharing with you.

Emnel Adventures founder story
Nelson Kambo - founder and head guide, Emnel Adventures, Arusha.

The Founder's Story

Built in Tanzania. For Those Who Want Africa Properly.

Emnel Adventures started in Arusha in 2016 with a name, a story, and $200. The name carries weight: Emily, Nelson's daughter, and Nelson Kambo himself - two people, one vision, and one extraordinary country to share.

Nelson started Emnel with a belief that there was a better way to show Tanzania than through a reseller or fixed-package operator. He wanted guests to experience the country the way he knows it - from the inside, with someone who grew up in its shadow, reads its seasons, and understands that a great safari is built on specific knowledge, not generic itineraries.

Today, Nelson and our team of certified Tanzanian guides handle every safari personally - from the first message through the last day in the field. That has not changed. It will not.

"We are a living tribute to what is possible when you refuse to accept the limitations others place on you. Every safari we run honours that."

Our Story

From a childhood near Arusha to the world’s greatest safari destination

  1. 2008

A childhood with wildlife as a neighbour

Nelson Kambo grows up near Arusha, the son of a chef who worked extraordinary hours so his children could have an education. For Nelson, wildlife is not a product — it is the texture of ordinary life. Something takes root.

  2. 2013

    A guide is born

Nelson completes his certified naturalist training and begins guiding through the northern circuit parks. He quickly understands that the guests who remember a trip forever are the ones whose guide made them understand what they were seeing — and feel it.

  3. 2016

Emnel Adventures: $200 and a conviction

With $200, a phone, and a self-taught understanding of Google Ads, Nelson launches Emnel Adventures from Arusha. The name is two people: his daughter Emily, and himself. Its first asset is genuine expertise in the field.

  4. 2018–2023

The team that makes this possible

Rahim joins, then Gabriel, then Ally — each one certified, each a specialist. The team shares one operating philosophy: every guest deserves the guide’s complete attention, every single game drive.

  5. 2024–present

    Five stars and a responsibility

A TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, and reviews describing private bush dinners on the Serengeti and a child’s first lion. The $200 that started this has grown into something genuinely earned — and a clear responsibility to the land and communities that made it possible.
